Poplar Springs
Poplar Springs is the only one of Berrien County's rural high schools to
really be a full high school. At the height of its being, they gradually
assimilated into Nashville High. Their senior class moved over in 1950 with the
rest of the high school portion following suit in 1951. In 1954, Gaskins School
combined with Poplar Springs to form East Berrien Elementary. That arrangement
lasted until c.1966, when all of those students were moved to Nashville
Elementary.
In their last few years, they began playing bigger schools, venturing into
several neighboring counties. During this era, they had some very strong girls'
teams. Poplar Springs quite probably did not have a gym. In the early days, they
would have played outside in the dirt. As for later years, it is known that they
played at least a couple of home games, but not many scores were reported so it
is difficult to ascertain just what exactly they did.

Someone named Greenway handled one or both teams in 1935-36 as well.
