There are several goals I would like to achieve with this website. Currently, I am doing almost all of the work, including all the pages (and am doing so by typing old school html). If someone would volunteer for any of the listed aims, I would be most appreciative and will help you as much as possible.
- Get every state basketball tournament score. This is nearly complete, save for at least one score.
- Get as many Atlanta Journal and/or Constitution All-State lists as possible. I have dates written down for all the ones I've spotted.
- Get every known final rankings list from the Journal and/or Constitution. I have a few and a couple of dates of others.
- Know the coach of every state champion. A list of what's missing is in the forum.
These are not as high a priority and are not numbered, but I would welcome a start to these:
- Box scores for every state tournament game. This task might be impossible. At the very least, it would require looking into a great many newspapers and scorebooks. I have just about everything of Berrien's.
- Know the coach of every state tournament team.
And non-state tournament goals:
- GACA All-Star rosters. Can list the ones I have on request.
- Establish stat records - most points by a single player in a game, most by a single team in a game, etc. These will require some proof before they are considered. Most folks are honest; their memories sometimes aren't.
- For single game records, text of a then current newspaper article with date and newspaper name listed or the box score via a scorebook. If using a scorebook, please double check the numbers. Cite the date and opponent. For records other than points, the typed newspaper article with dates and newpaper name will suffice. If you have the stat sheet kept on the bench and could scan it, that'd be very nice, but is not required.
- For seasonal records, I need the points of the player (or team) game by game. Have something to verify your information. Records other than points can be submitted with a then current newspaper article mentioning the stat.
- Career player records also need to be game by game. Records other than points can be submitted with a then current article mentioning the stat.
- Free throw records pretty much only need to be referenced out the scorebook. Nothing against all the dedicated stat men and women, but I've seen some incorrect percentages in the days before calculators.
- Weekly rankings.
- Coaching records. Moreso, where each coach was from year-to-year.
- Like GHSFHA, a game by game record. Impossible. Implausible. Basketball coverage varied paper to paper and has fallen off considerably in the last 10 years. AP scores from back in the day are far from complete. I'm not sure why I'm mentioning it, as I don't want to tackle this myself.
