The Tournament
Teams: 14
How determined: Region winners and runners-up.
Champion: Lanier
School Title: 2nd
Final Record:
Coach: Jim Clements
Notes: The Bluebirds of USB perhaps should have won the state finale. At the half, they led 26-12. A 14-point lead - especially in this era - was difficult to overcome as the rules of the game were different. There was a center jump after each basket. A rule allowing only one dribble per player possession might have also still been in effect.
