The Tournament
Teams: 8
How determined:
Champion: Perry
School Title: 5th
Final Record: 27-4
Coach: Eric Staples
Notes: There was a guarantee of seeing a Coach Staples in the Class B final, as the semifinal game was a family affair. Eric Staples, the long successful mentor of the Perry Panthers, faced off with his brother Don Staples, the minder of the Heard County Braves. The game was a low scoring one for Perry, but Eric Staples had a secret weapon; freshman Lee Martin. He scored the game winning and insurance baskets.
