Ballard-Hudson created some controversy by skipping the region tournament. The Tigers assuredly would have made the state tourney, but sat out to accept an offer to play in the Georgia Open Invitational which held its first annual prep competition. After a few uneasy days, the GIA ruled there was nothing in its constitution to prohibit Ballard-Hudson from playing in the Invitational. Fortunately for the GIA, the Georgia Invitational was only held one year.
