The Tournament
Teams: 8
How determined:
Champion: Brooks County
School Title: 1st
Final Record: 23-1
Coach: George Eanes
Notes: The Tigerettes had an advantage or disadvantage, depending on perspective. Brooks County's high schools consolidated in 1959. A group of girls who had never played as a team now had to co-exist. On the bright side, their talent pool ran deeper, as Brooks combined in an in-between year (the GHSA realigns in the fall of even numbered years) and probably had a higher average daily attendance than the B school limit. Brooks did jump to Class A following the 1959-60 school year.
Other Notes:
- Speaking of jumping, Villa Rica had an unusual warm-up regimen prior to games. Coach Anne Anders' routine saw her girls jumping rope to prepare for each contest.
