The Tournament
Teams: 16
How determined: Region winner and region runner-up.
Champion: Terrell County
School Title: 2nd
Final Record: 31-0
Coach: Allie Jenkins
Notes: Jenkins' daughter, Tammye, was the star of the Greenwaves' squad. Seminole and Terrell would hook up again in 1987's state finals. They had also played each other in the 1984 finale. The two were region rivals. All of Seminole's losses were to Terrell in 1985-86.
Other Notes:
- The semifinal game between Seminole and Haralson was a game most bizarre. Haralson's forte were two post players and a strong defense. They relied on both against the surging Indians. While Seminole spread the ball around, the Rebelettes concentrated on their posts. For the entire game, that's what they did. No other player besides the two forwards took a shot from the floor. Only one other attempted any kind of shot at all - a free throw that missed. Haralson attempted no fast breaks or outside shots.
