Year of total integration 1970. Bibb schools underwent a complete transformation, with the traditionally white schools becoming co-educational at the same time as becoming fully integrated. The exception was Dudley Hughes, which was already co-ed. In 1970, Macon schools took on directional names, incorporating formerly Black and white campuses: Northeast, Central and Southwest. Dudley Hughes' name changed to Bibb Tech.

Known high schools Ballard (Macon) Ballard-Hudson (Macon) Central City College (Macon) Hudson (Macon) Peter G. Appling (Macon) Ballard and Hudson combined in 1949. Peter G. Appling opened in 1959. Central City College was a private school that later changed its name to Georgia Baptist College.
