Profile: Coffee County

Year Minimum Foundation building program completed
1955.

Coffee County and Douglas city combined their school systems at about the same time. Carver, an all-grades school in Douglas, received a new building. Paulk and Mary Hayes, elementary schools in Ambrose and Broxton, respectively, received new buildings as well.

Year of total integration
1969.

Carver became Coffee Junior High, though it later regained its historic name and has continued in various roles within the school system. The names of Paulk and Mary Hayes were combined to Ambrose and Broxton, though their buildings seem to have been quickly abandoned. Both have long been demolished. Broxton had a high school through the 1989-90 school term.
