Profile: Coweta County

Year Minimum Foundation building program completed
1955 (Coweta County) and 1956 (Newnan city)

The Coweta County and Newnan city school systems were split at this time. Ruth Hill received a new school in the Newnan city plans, with Howard Warner receiving an addition. Howard Warner had been the city high school, but the joint city-county Newnan-Coweta County Central (always simply referred to as Central) consolidated all high school students in both systems.

In the county system, Northside, Eastside and Westside elementary schools were built.

Year of total integration
1970.

The school system - Newnan had come under theh Coweta County banner by now - zoned all of its schools in the city of Newnan, splitting grades in many cases. Ruth Hill in 1970 was for grades 4-7, Fairmount-Warner was 5-7, and Central High stayed Central High, but only for grades 9 and 10.

Fairmount and Howard Warner combined in the agreement.

Grantville also split its schools. Grantville Brown had 1st and 2nd. Northside did grades 1-2; Eastside was 5-8 and Westside handled 6-8.
