Profile: Henry County

Year Minimum Foundation building program completed
1955.

Henry County Training received a new building for its all-grades school at McDonough. Elementary schools were built at Shoal Creek (in Locust Grove), Hampton Rosenwald and Stockbridge Rosenwald. Both of the Rosenwald schools retained their names despite, by nature of having new buildings, not being located in Rosenwald buildings.

The Henry County Training building opened in March 1955. The March 31, 1955 Weekly-Advertiser said students moved in immediately and not only from McDonough, but from four other small schools as well.

Year of total integration
1970.

Upon total integration, Henry County High adjusted its team colors and nickname. Before 1970-71, they wore wine and gold and were known as the Tornadoes. Afterwards, the nickname was Warhawks.
