Year of total integration
1969.

Known high schools
  • Lakeland Colored
  • Lakeland High and Elementary
Lanier Colored was not a full high school until late in its life. Superintendent J.W. Threatte said in the Aug. 11, 1949 Lanier County News that the system was attempting to have an 11th grade at Lakeland Colored.

Eleventh was the highest grade available in most school systems and Lakeland had only 10. To finish schooling, Threatte said students had to go to Valdosta, though that's unclear if he meant Dasher High in the city or one of the county high schools, of if both were equally applicable.

Lakeland High and Elementary was the name given to the new building that opened in 1956.

Known schools
  • 1949-50: Lakeland Colored, New Hope Well, Silver Hill (or New Hopewell and Silver Hills); 4 total, down from 11 a few years ago (10/13/1949 Lanier County News, given other school names that pop up in later years, four would be an incorrect number from the News)
