Profile: Polk County

Year Minimum Foundation building program completed
c. 1955 for Cedartown; ? for Polk County.

At the time of the building project, Polk County and Cedartown city were separte school systems. Cedartown's portion of the program built a new Cedar Hill, which served all grades in the city.

The Georgia Educational Directory suggests that Polk County's building program finished c. 1956-57. Based on overhead views from Historic Aerials, all-grades Elm Street received an addition in the building program. Lyle Elementary, located in Cedartown, but considered a Polk County school in this time, looks virtually the same on aerial views from 1955 and 1964. Lyle might have been built in the early 1950s.

Year of total integration
c. 1969
