GIA 1968 Class B Boys Track Champions

State was held April 27 at Fort Valley State.

Results from May 3, 1968 Rome News-Tribune

Team results

1st - Lyons Industrial?, 37 points
2nd - Georgia School for the Deaf, 30

The Rome News-Tribune article on the finals credits the championship to Lyons County.

Of course, there is not a county by that name. Lyons Industrial was a Class B-sized team in 1968 and that area was a hotbed for track at this time. Lyons Industrial did win its district title in 1969, per results printed in the Tattnall Journal.

It appears likely that Lyons Industrial were the 1968 Class B champions, but another source naming them would be very welcomed.

Notes

Partial results.

Georgia School for the Deaf operated on a segregated basis in the 1960s, with white and Black sports teams.
