The Tournament
Teams: 16
How determined: Region winners and runners-up.
Champion: Rockdale County
School Title: 1st
Final Record: 22-5
Coach: Cleveland Stroud
Notes: Rockdale became the first and only GHSA basketball team to forfeit its state title. Several weeks after the Bulldogs' upset win, Stroud told the GHSA that he had found out that he was playing an ineligible athlete. One of his substitutes was academically ineligible and he said that he had mistakenly not checked his grades after the semester had ended. Stroud and his Rockdale team were stripped of their crown by the GHSA.
